The request from Sea Marconi customer EDF for a solution to control of insulators with oil and SF6, which are used as accessories for generation transformers, has been successfully met. Sea Marconi’s response recently led to the signing of a three-year contract for representative sampling and diagnostics of insulators and insulating fluids. These activities are an exclusive competence of Sea Marconi and, for this purpose, we have recently validated a new method with specific procedures and dedicated equipment. In fact, the sampling of the insulators with oil and SF6 is a rather complex operation that required several months of intensive research and development.

The request from EDF, a Sea Marconi nuclear generation customer, came after the occurrence of some critical "SF6 in oil - leaks" problems, and in particular failures between the compartments that separate oil and SF6.

With the new contract, Sea Marconi will provide a timely response for the sampling, establishment of dissolved gases (DGA) in oil, including SF6, and subsequent diagnosis supported by a statistical database established for typical or alarm values for this type of insulator. This will make it possible to better manage the life cycle (LCM) of assets for " loss prevention and environmental protection".
