Physical treatment/reconditioning

The insulating oil contained in electrical equipment is subject to deterioration, mainly due to the normal conditions of use. This deterioration gradually reduces the dielectric (insulating) properties of fluid, increasing the chances of failure.

The physical treatment of oil, which is much more beneficial than its replacement, is intended to eliminate any contaminants present in the insulating liquid such as water, solid particles and dissolved gases, restoring it to the range specified by sector standards and guidelines (IEC, CENELEC, CIGRE, etc.) and preventing potential damage caused, for example, by the progressive accumulation of water in the solid insulation with gas bubble formation and electric discharges.
Sea Marconi performs physical treatments in an exclusive manner in terms of operational modes and safety through the use of its own treatment units (MDUs - Mobile Decontamination Units) equipped with advanced control systems and also able to operate 24 hours a day.

Sea Marconi's mobile treatment units, designed and produced in-house, suction the oil in the transformer, decontaminate it and pump it back into the equipment. Each time that oil flows through our treatment system, the oil is:

  • filtered,
  • dehumidified and
  • degassed.

A process of closed circulation is triggered, through which the fluid never leaves this circuit and, most importantly, not even partial emptying of the transformer is required.

In addition to restoring the parameters of the oil to the ranges prescribed by the standards, thanks to the flow of oil inside the transformer, Sea Marconi's physical treatment allows for complete removal of the contaminants deposited on the internal parts of the transformer and on the bottom of the casing.
