Life cycle management (Smart LCM)

Sea Marconi supports the owners of electrical equipment with insulating oils throughout their life cycle , from the phase of selecting new oil to purchase, through the first energisation and the exercise up to end-of-life management.

Each of these phases requires appropriate assessment with the aim of ensuring operational continuity at least cost, reducing risk factors and complying with sector standards and environmental constraints.

As is the case for clinical diagnostics, Sea Marconi performs analysis of the oils in transformers (and other electrical equipment), and then issues real diagnoses and prognoses.
This step identifies the state of health of electric machinery and, in the case of anomalies, preventive maintenance interventions or corrective actions are suggested.

When the fluid in a transformer is chemically-physically contaminated or has unsatisfactory values, Sea Marconi performs treatments that are conceptually similar to dialysis.

Our staff go to the customer (anywhere in the world) and, through its decontamination mobile units ( DMUs ) and the use of patented reagents, restore the characteristics of the fluid to the values prescribed by industry standards.

This approach contrasts with replacement of the fluid, which is more costly, technically less effective and more critical both for the equipment and for the environment.

The treatments by Sea Marconi are performed:

  • on site;
  • closed-loop (the transformer is never emptied, not even in part);
  • in continuation;
  • also with the transformer energised and under load during the entire treatment.

Continuous oil circulation creates a flow inside the transformer that also benefits cleaning of the lower part of the tank (sludge) and of solid insulation (pressboard).
