The extraordinary results of Sea Marconi interventions are the product of experience accumulated since 1968, the use of multipurpose Mobile Decontamination Units ( MDUs), designed and built in-house, and formulaes of specific reagents (S/CDP® and S/CHED®, etc.) used on the basis of different scenarios.

The MDUs are connected to the transformer via flexible hoses, then the processes of decontamination are started: the insulating fluid circulates through the MDUs in which it is

  • heated,
  • degassed,
  • dehumidified and
  • filtered,
  • decontaminated (through special patented reagents)

before returning to the transformer, which is never emptied, not even partially.

The continuous circulation of the insulating liquid creates a constant flow of fluid in the transformer that promotes the elimination of deposits (sludge) on paperboards and the casing.
The activities are carried out in safety thanks to the low process temperatures, the use of patented reagents that do not cause danger of explosion or fire, the use of special tubes (SpillGuard®) able to interrupt the process in case of accidental loss and also thanks to a control system software able to check moment by moment that the process is taking place in safety and quality assurance, 24 hours a day even without the presence of an operator.

The interventions are performed with the On-Load option, keeping the transformer in service, under tension and under load that is, without any loss of production (international experiences also in nuclear power stations and transformers up to 760 MVA and up to 500 KV).

Sea Marconi's closed loop interventions offer the advantage of avoiding critical operational problems related to fluid replacement, which involves placing the machine out of service and functional risks (e.g. electrical discharges) due to air bubbles and humidity.
