In accordance with IEC standard 62701 (Fluids for electrotechnical applications - Recycled mineral insulating oils for transformers and switchgear), Sea Marconi has developed an ad hoc project for one of the most important European suppliers of transformer oils.

The project involves the implementation of a system for the assessment (technical-economical and environmental) of insulating oil properties, before and after reclamation treatment (oil regeneration).

In summary, the aim is on one hand to identify the critical properties of the oils, and on the other to assess the technical-economical impact of transforming recycled oils to make them compliant with legislative standards. In particular, the PCB content must be lower than 2 mg/kg (established using IEC standard 61619), and the DBDS content must be lower than 5 mg/kg (in accordance with IEC standard 62697).

As part of this collaboration, Sea Marconi has studied a sustainable technological solution that allows partners to treat used oil, placing recycled oils on the market that are compliant with IEC 62701, maximising the efficiency of their treatment and reducing operational costs.
